Family Christmas

So many people to see, food to eat and presents to open. There were just plates and plates of goodies sitting around at my mom's. Every time you turn around someone was bringing over a plate heaped with cheesecake or cookies.

I can't help but love Christmas. All the baking, decorating and present making. And the look on the kid's faces when they discover Santa did indeed arrive during the night!Bubby and his roll of Lifesavers. There was no need for any other gift I don't think. He took the Lifesavers upstairs and said, "Me hide 'em...you no find 'em." Then he decided he couldn't wait for breakfast any longer and went to the kitchen to eat.

He could care less that there were lots of presents under the tree for him. He wanted oatmeal with 'little boogers' (raisins) in it made by his Papa.

Hope your Christmas morning was just as sweet.

Merry Christmas!

All be it a little late but Merry Christmas! This house really has been a flurry of activity around here for the last 2 weeks. I'll try and get you caught up.... Hubby was told he would have no leave for the holidays so after the initial shock (pissoffness...is that a word? Doesn't matter...I was pissed!) wore off I got used to the idea of being 8 hours from family and friends. I had all these plans and traditions we were going to do for the kids. Christmas Eve services at church, a huge breakfast and a lazy day of playing with toys and watching it snow.

I was even a little excited about the white Christmas. I've had VERY few white Christmas' in my life. They are usually brown and muddy. So, Thursday BEFORE Christmas Hubby comes home and tells me he gets the whole week of Christmas off! I'm excited but I had my mind wrapped around staying here. I wasn't finished with presents!! I thought I had extra time! ACK!! How was I supposed to get it all done to leave on Saturday (ONLY 2 days away!)

So after much knitting and sewing I finished everything and we left on Sunday afternoon. Would you believe I actually made make-up bags WITH zippers?! I'll post about those at a later date.

So, over the river and through the blizzard to Grandma & Papa's house we drove (actually Hubby drove and I knitted). It was -8 below zero when we left and the wind was horrible! I actually saw a women get out of her car at a gas station to walk her tiny little dog. The dog became airborne! I am NOT kidding. She had to hold the poor little thing down so it could relieve itself. haha!!

Christmas Eve we were able to meet with friends we have not seen in a long time.

We had yummy food in Suzanne's beautifully decorated home. The kids (big and little) played with the toy train and watched Polar Express. Before bed we made sure Santa's reindeer were well fed.

Christmas around the house

The tree is up.There is even a present under the tree for me! It's not wrapped cause I HAD to have one of the circular needles out of it so I could finish some of the projects for Christmas. I HAD to have it...ok??Mr. & Mrs. Claus....thanks to Suzanne.

My new pencil tree from Aunt ME. We strung popcorn and cranberries the other night while watching A Christmas Story.
I bought a Precious Moments Nativity set made of resin. I thought for sure it would be indistructable....yeah...the wise men aren't fairing so well. Bubby is pretty hard on them.

Working them to the bone

We have been working like crazy around here to get all the Christmas decorations up, finish the knitting, and finish the Christmas cards. I don't want to even think about the shopping I need to do.

Snow!!

We have had a tremendous about of rain, ice and snow in the past 24 hours. I really do love all this snow but I'm still a bit amazed at how much is dumped on us at one time and how it seems to never go away!

Even with all the snow the roads are always clean. I'm still amazed by this too! I've seen the snowplow more today then I ever saw in my entire life while living south of here.

Hubby is just so excited to FINALLY get to use his new snow blower. We've never had one before so this is a lot of fun for him. My dad found it at auction this summer for $150! Such a bargain!!
He is finally able to pay the neighbor back for all the snow blowing help he has given to us in the past couple of years.
Just deep enough to play in but not so deep he can't walk. Lovin' it!!

Aggravated that her Bubby won't pull her down the hill. I only went out to take photos...not actually going to touch the snow myself!
